We hope you can enjoy this free session where Andy Gillies will present a brief overview of the main principles of note-taking for consecutive interpreting. Note-taking will first be discussed as a skill that is intrinsically linked to two other important elements of consecutive interpreting – memory and analysis. Then the foundations of a consistent but flexible note-taking system will be presented. Finally we will look at how notes can also promote professional fluent production in the interpreting phase. At the end we will have time to a Q&A question. We will also launch our 8 hour training program starting April 9th with Andy Gillies as a instructor.
Andy has taught conference interpreting at the Łódź, WLS Warsaw, UAM and Jagiellonian (Cracow) universities in Poland; at FHK Cologne in Germany; on the EMCI in Lisbon, Portugal; and at ISIT and ESIT in Paris, France.
He has also given numerous further training courses for professional interpreters at the European Parliament and has taught both further training and training of trainers courses for AIIC (International Association of Conference Interpreters).
He is the curator of the Interpreter Training Resources website https://interpretertrainingresources.eu/
